Catamaran Sailing
If you haven't sailed in Vassiliki, you haven't sailed!
Established: Wildwind sailing in Vassiliki started out in 1987 as a Cat only sailing centre and has been teaching people to sail these twin hulled craft for 38 years, and counting...
Extensive fleet: Wildwind's catamaran fleet includes Hobie Dragoons, Hobie 14, Hobie 15s, Hobie 16s, Hobie FXOnes, Hobie Pacifics, Hobie Tigers, Tornado and Goodhall C2. Something for everyone!
RYA and VDWS recognised teaching centre: Ensuring the highest safety standards. Our team of expert instructors, many with national and international racing accolades, are dedicated to helping you enhance your skills and knowledge, taking your sailing to the next level.
Unique sailing conditions: In the mornings lighter winds are ideal for learning the basics. As the day progresses, fresh cross-shore breezes offer exciting challenges for seasoned sailors, while those less experienced can try trapezing on our famous 'joy-rides' accompanied by one of our top team of instructors aiming to get you 'hooked' for life (a sailing in joke – if you get to trapeze on your joy ride you’ll be hooked on a wire in your harness)
Beginners: You’ll start your day being introduced to your RYA qualified instructor, given a simple safety briefing and, if you haven’t sailed before, some very simple but essential information about how the wind affects the boat and then taken out to cruise around the bay with your instructor showing you and then letting you helm (steer) the boat if you are feeling comfortable. At this level sailing a Cat is remarkably easy, as long as you know the difference between push and pull. Of course it helps if you can grasp the concepts of wind direction and sail setting – but that’s what we are here for!
Novices: If you already have some sailing experience, perhaps even RYA level 1 certification, we’ll just go over the basics and safety instructions and then you can, if you wish, hop on a boat and go out and enjoy sailing, on your own or with a sailing companion. Or we’ll provide a bit more instruction for you to help take your sailing up to the next level.
Experienced sailors: Whilst you’re free to enjoy the light morning winds, usually just after lunch the stronger cross-shore wind kicks in (F4-5) and this is what makes Vassiliki such a special place. Choose your boat and just get out there!
Joyride Heaven: When the afternoon cross-shore wind kicks in this in when the Cats come to life - Cat sailing in Vassiliki is where the expression ‘Go Fast or Go Home’ was born! For beginners, novices and even experienced sailors who haven’t yet mastered the art of trapezing, strap on your harness and join in a trapezing lecture on dry land – then head out on an amazing joy ride around the bay crewing for one of our superb team. Once you’ve experienced a Wildwind joyride it’s likely you’ll be hooked for life (there’s that pun again)
You may choose to do either 2 days catamaran sailing or 2 days dinghy sailing rather than one of each - simply let the team know when you get here. Buoyancy aids and trapeze harnesses (where required) are provided.
Joyride guarantee – if conditions are not suitable for the day you’ve chosen we will do our best to fit you in on another day.
